- John tries to make sure he’s always on the higher step than Sherlock so he can turn around and kiss him if he so wishes and doesn’t have to reach up

- John dislikes his shortness when it means giving Sherlock surprise kisses aren’t that surprising because Sherlock sees them coming since John has to reach up and tug the clever little shit down to him

- Mycroft made a joke about Sherlock getting John heels once, and Sherlock had Thoughts, but one glare from John put a stop to those real fast

- John uses his Captain voice on people who assume certain things when they not so subtly notice the height difference between him and his precious little shit of a detective boyfriend. 

- Sherlock fucking loves those moments because John using his captains voice is ALWAYS a good thing. 

- John absolutely refuses to buy a stool to reach the top of the cupboards, and absolutely refuses to ask Sherlock for help getting things, so he struggles to reach the items on the top shelf. Naturally, Sherlock puts most of what John uses on the top shelf so he can admire the view of his doctor stretching

- Sometimes John just stares at Sherlock in those moments where it just hits him of how much taller Sherlock is. Especially when Sherlock isn’t doing much of anything other than looking like a Greek god and lamenting there being no interesting murders this week, and John just thinks I’m so in love with this man

Yet there John is in the kitchen in his comfy sweater as he stirs his tea, after having to stretch up on his tip toes to reach the tea bags Sherlock put on the top shelf, looking so sweet and innocent and tiny and domestic, but all that strength and power is still right there, in the muscles of his arms hidden by the ridiculous jumper, in everything that makes him John, and Sherlock just thinks I’m so in love with this man
